AFTERCARE
Wash your hands with anti-bacterial soap before cleansing or touching your tattoo
If bandaged; keep on for atleast 24 hours & up to 72 hours
When removing your bandage do so in shower and pull bandage like a command strip and then rinse tattoo with warm water and pat dry with clean paper towelÂ
Wash twice a day with warm water and fragrance free soap and apply a thin layer of healing balm or unscented lotion like cerave or lubriderm from day 2 onward (I love the
balm from Mad Rabbit or Hustle Butter)
THE DONTS
-Do not scratch or pick. This removes ink and can lead to infections
-Avoid direct sunlight. For the first two weeks try to limit sun exposure- if you know you will be out in the sun for a prolonged period wear a thin layer of clothing over the tattoo. After the first to weeks use a high SPF sunscreen on your tattoo (Mad Rabbit also carries and SPF)
-Avoid soaking in any waters ( lake, ocean, bathtub, pool, jacuzzi) for at least the first month (super important for the first two weeks of healing)
-Avoid heavy sweating for at least two weeks. Wash after sweating
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTERÂ
-Color and plasma may seep to the surface. This is normal (follow aftercare)
-For the next week the tattoo and area around it may be slightly swollen, red, and sore
-Withing a few days to a week a thin scab may form evenly over the tattoo and peel like a sunburn (do not pick)
